FALMOUTH – The JML Care Center in Falmouth will be renovated and expanded.

Cape Cod Healthcare has announced plans to expand the facility by 12,325 square feet and converting 44 of the current 52 sub-acute beds into private rooms. Four of the sub-acute rooms will be refurbished and will remain as double occupancy rooms.

Other addition and renovations work planned for the care center include work on the administration/entry vestibule, the ambulance entrance area, along with expansion of rehabilitation facilities, employee dining and second floor activity space.

The proposed project has an estimated cost of $15 million and was made possible in part by two anonymous gifts.

The center is located on the Falmouth Hospital Campus and was built in 1989 with the support of the late Josiah and Josephine Lilly. It was named in memory of Josephine.

JML currently has 132 beds which includes 52 sub-acute beds and 80 long-term care beds. The facility also provides short-term rehabilitation and an adult day health program that provides care for up to 45 clients.

The facility has seen two additions since it was built and include the Holly Point addition in 1992 and a small rehab department addition that opened in 2000.

Construction on the project is scheduled to start next May and has an estimated completion date of January 2020.

The plans are currently in the local and state review process.
