Cape Cod Hoarding Task Force Announced Fall Support Sessions

hoardingBARNSTABLE – Looking to curb the problem of compulsive hoarding, The Cape Cod Hoarding Task Force is offering free peer support groups at locations throughout Cape Cod.

The groups will be action-oriented, and consist of 15 sessions spread over 20 weeks and are based on the book Buried in Treasures: Help for Compulsive Acquiring, Saving and Hoarding by David F. Tolin, Randy O. Frost and Gail Steketee.

“The individuals go through discarding protocols and ideas and organizing skills to reduce the clutter and reduce their acquiring,” Cape Cod Task Force Chairperson Erika Woods said.

The group sessions will be held in Harwich beginning in late September (contact Kevin Grunwald, 508-430-7551), Yarmouth beginning on September 21 (contact Linda Colby 508-394-7606), Provincetown beginning in late October (contact Chris Hottle, 508-487-7080), and Falmouth later this fall (contact Karen Cardeira, 508-548-0533).

Sessions will not begin until a sufficient number of participants have registered.
