YARMOUTH – The Cape Cod K-9 Relief Fund is getting ready for their 14th annual reception. It’s scheduled for today from 3:00 to 7:00 at the Yarmouth House Restaurant.
The fund’s mission is to raise money to assist paying retired k-9 officer’s veterinary bills .
Fund President Joe Ambrosini said returning to a normal schedule is a big part of the dog’s next stage of life. “These dogs work crazy hours just like the officers do. They work evenings or midnights, and that takes a toll. The k-9s are training constantly to be proficient,” he said.
Donations from local businesses and individuals, along with merchandise sales, help keep the fund going year-round. They also receive a commission when a purchase is made from a business on their website.
Ambrosini points out that people attending the reception can help while having a great time. “We have a silent auction, raffle, and food. We have some great prizes. We try to make it so everybody wins something.”
The suggested donation is $50, which can be made upon arrival or by sending a check to The Cape Cod K-9 Relief Fund, P.O. Box 582, South Dennis, MA 02660.
Medical costs can easily, and quickly, reach thousands of dollars.
