Cape Cod Mall Announces New Renovations

HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Mall announced renovation plans this week that are scheduled to be ready by next summer.

The additions coincide with the upcoming openings of Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods in the fall and next summer, respectively.

“It’s all consistent with the fact that malls must continue to evolve to meet the needs of the constantly changing consumer,” said Mall Manager Jason Huer.

The renovations will include a revamped exterior entrance with new benches, bike racks, and improved lighting.

There will also be new landscaping and the addition of a public area adjacent to Regal Cinema, which will feature outdoor seating.

A new dining pavilion with built-in charging stations will debut, as well as a state-of-the-art children’s play area themed to Cape Cod and the ocean.

Huer said the entertainment-based renovations such as the public area and play area can help the Cape Cod Mall become more of a popular destination for local residents.

“We bring in other amenities, like the play area in the hopes that families will come here, spend more time, and be more of a community center, a gathering place for the community,” Huer said.

Work on the renovations is set to begin next month, and the mall will remain open during construction.
