Cape Cod Maritime Museum to Host School Vacation Classes

HYANNIS – February school vacation is underway and the Cape Cod Maritime Museum is offering several classes for children and families.

The museum will host three Family Fun Drop In classes for children of all ages, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Children can learn about Cape Cod mollusks like quahogs, scallops and clams on Monday. Attendees can make fun art or crafts using clean discarded shells.

On Tuesday, attendees can use their imagination to create a maritime creature using several materials, new and recycled.

Children can make small, hand-held boats on Friday. Starting with a boat shaped wooden hull participants can build their boats using wood and recycled materials.

The drop in classes are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are $10 per participant.

Drop off classes will also be held for 8-12 year olds on Wednesday and Thursday.

Participants can make their own illustrated journal from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and a Lego boat building challenge is Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.

The drop off classes are $18 per student and pre-registration must be completed at www.capecodmaritimemuseum.org.
