Cape Cod Military Support Foundation Receives Support Following Fire

KB_PersonalChristmasTree_12.22.15SANDWICH – The Cape Cod Military Support Foundation’s plans to provide 800 Cape Cod youth with toys during the holidays were abruptly interrupted following a fire last week which consumed their stock.

But support from the community, and now Toys for Tots, is catching them up quickly.

The foundation shared the office and storage space, which was made up of attached mobile trailers, with a government contractor.

“They think it was an electrical fire that started outside of our space and it just spread throughout the building,” Cox said. “Those storage trailers and offices that we had are all metal so once a fire starts it’s like an oven and everything literally melted.”

Cox described seeing metal storage racks, which were full of gifts, twisted, bent and folded in half.

The foundation still needs support from the community, however. Cash and new, unwrapped toy donations can be brought to all Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.

Donations of decorations are also still needed for the foundation to continue with an Operation Santa party on December 11th.
