Cape Cod Museum of Art Hosting Children’s Pottery Class

DENNIS – Pack your imagination and join the Cape Cod Museum of Art in some globetrotting with hands in clay.

The museum is hosting a children’s pottery class with ceramic artist Jenn Reed for six weeks starting on January 11.

As young explorers, participants will visit all seven continents and see what they can find.

In this class, young artists learn basic techniques such as working with coils, slabs and pinch pots to make functional and sculptural treasures.

The class is open to children ages 7-12 and is held on Wednesdays from 4-5:30pm.

The emphasis on the class is to have fun and experiment with form, ideas and texture.

Reed makes narrative ceramic sculptures, tiles and platters.

She lives in Dennis with her family and was a clay resident artist at The Archie Bray Foundation in Montana.

She has taught ceramics to children all over Cape Cod and in Montana.

In the six-week course, participants will learn a variety of different hand building skills and techniques that will enable them to make sculptural and functional art.

Jenn will introduce a new project and theme in every class that embrace different skills and abilities.

Inspirational material will be available in class and students will be encouraged to challenge themselves and have fun.
