Cape Cod National Seashore Adds Electric Vehicle Charging Station

WELLFLEET – A partnership between the National Parks Foundation, the National Park Service and BMW has led to four electric vehicle charging stations being installed at Wellfleet Town Hall to serve the town and the National Seashore.

“Cape Cod National Seashore staff are excited to help support our gateway through this innovative partnership”, said National Seashore Superintendent Brian Carlstrom.

The national project began in April 2017 with the installation of vehicle charging stations at Thomas Edison National Park in New Jersey.

“Not only will drivers’ benefit, but also businesses and communities at the doorstep of our treasured national parks”, said President of The National Park Foundation Will Shafroth.

When choosing the National Seashore, factors of EV market strength, distance from nearby charging stations and natural and cultural landscapes were considered.

“The presence of multiple EV charging stations in Wellfleet Center provides a great new opportunity toward an energy efficient future for Outer Cape residents and visitors”, said Carlstrom.
