EASTHAM – As the storm continues, damage is being assessed at the Cape Cod National Seashore beaches.

Cape Cod National Seashore Park Superintendent George Price said he has already heard early word of damage at two spots that frequently get damaged in big storms. The Nauset Light Beach steps have been lost and there is a large hole in the north parking lot at Herring Cove Beach, he said.

“Yes we are suffering some damage in the storm on some of our beaches,” he said.

Price said he already has word of people standing too close to the edge of the dunes as they look at the water. He said two

“I certainly do want to put out a note of caution, because we’ve already had reports of people going to take a look. One of the lessons we’ve learned is you never know how much the ground is undercut from where you’re standing when you go and take a look at on a dune or on a cliff. We certainly don’t want anyone going out to the edge and falling all the way down,” he said.

Word has also been received of a breach at Ballston Beach in Truro.
