Cape Cod National Seashore to Hold Junior Lifeguard Program This Summer

CAPE COD- Teenagers will once again have the opportunity to receive training this summer through the Cape Cod National Seashore’s Junior Lifeguard Program.

Boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 17 chosen to participate will learn CPR, first aid, and lifeguard training through the free program which promotes water safety and job-specific training here on Cape.

In order to join, participants must be able to complete a one-third mile open ocean swim followed by an immediate half-mile run on the first day of the program.

Students who will be 15 years old or older before the end of the program, who complete all the requirements, will received American Red Cross certifications in the training areas.

The program runs from July 5th through August 9th and meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Marconi Beach.

About 18 applicants will be selected as junior lifeguards.
