EASTHAM – The Cape Cod National Seashore will celebrate its volunteers at an upcoming event in Eastham.
All current and former volunteers will be honored on September 24th at 5 PM at the Salt Pond Visitor Center. Reservations are required by September 16.
“During this Centennial year, it is important to acknowledge all of the hard work and dedication that our volunteers devote to Cape Cod National Seashore,” said Superintendent George Price. “Volunteers assist in nearly every aspect of park operations. They serve as friendly and informative ambassadors at visitor centers. They monitor and protect shorebirds and maintain trails. They share the wonder of seal haul outs with countless beach-goers, and they bring to life this park’s history at lighthouses and other historic buildings.”
Park volunteers dedicated over 31,000 hours to the National Seashore last year. More than $45,000 was raised by volunteers in April to improve Seashore facilities ahead of the Centennial celebration.
