Cape Cod Native Takes Command of USS Carl Vinson

SAN DIEGO, Ca. – A Cape Cod native and graduate of Cape Cod Community College has taken command of one of the more notable aircraft carriers in the United States naval fleet.

Captain Douglas Verissimo, of Falmouth, took command of the USS Carl Vinson in a ceremony this week, according to the Times of San Diego.

Verissimo previously skippered the USS New Orleans and served as a Blue Angels pilot.

Verissimo graduated from Cape Cod Community College in 1987 with an Associate’s Degree.
