HYANNIS-  The ‘Cape Cod Pet Collective’ took home first prize during the Cape Cod Young Professionals “Big Ideas” event held at Cape Cod Beer Tuesday.

The purpose of the event was to engage, connect, and advance Cape Cod’s young workforce and future leaders in an effort to create a stronger community for all.

“It’s actually a national model that we’ve seen in other communities that’s worked really well. It gets big ideas out on the table for discussion [and] collaboration and really provides community members the opportunity to take the stage, and have their voices heard about what they want the future to look like,” said Lauren Barker, CEO of CCYP.

Lisa Guyon of the Cape Cod Pet Collective said the goal of her program is to “[connect] between generations of seniors and working families through a pet sharing program. [It] also helps seniors who have a pet who may need somebody to help walk them or take them to the vet. [The program also is crafted to help] seniors plan so if something [bad] were to happen [to them], their pets would be taken care of [right] here in our community.”

A $250 check was presented to Guyon’s foundation in an effort to help the initiative get off the ground.
