Cape Cod Photographer Featured in Barnstable Town Hall Exhibit

HYANNIS – A local artwork on loan program is currently featuring the work of Alan Belanich, a Cape Cod photographer who works for the Barnstable Patriot. Although not a Cape native, Belanich says he grew up here and spent his time as a youth exploring the area with his camera.

An aficionado of digital art and computer imaging, Belanich is also an avid hiker and explorer, these excursions provide him with the opportunity to capture many of his images.

After taking and editing thousands of photos over the years, Belanich is constantly trying to improve his work, he says he is inspired by world renowned photographers.

After much trial and error, Belanich was offered a job with the Patriot where he remains today. Belanich consistently hikes beginning in the early morning hours, seeking the perfect light for his work.

His photos are now being displayed as part of the art on loan program being exhibited in the Selectman’s Conference Room and the Barnstable Town Hall hearing room.

The program provides a venue for local artists to display their work, according to Melissa Hersh with the town of Barnstable’s Department of Art and Culture.

Hersh says visitors using the meeting rooms have an opportunity to enjoy the displays which feature local talent. Belanich’s work is featured through October 15th;   both rooms are located on the second floor of Barnstable Town Hall in Hyannis.
