Cape Cod Police Officers Receive More Narcan Funding

narcan_3BARNSTABLE – The Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council has received a second $10,000 donation from the Lyndon Paul Lorusso Charitable Foundation to provide Narcan for all Cape law enforcement agencies.

The drug is used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses.

About $7,500 from the first donation was used to deliver the drug to agencies across the cape.

“So this here will be used [as] supplemental,” said Wellfleet Police Chief, and secretary/treasurer for the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council, Ronald Fisette. “So as the medication expires, it has approximately a two year shelf life, or if we start using it we have an ability to replace it so that different agencies have it and thus the officers will have it in the field.”

Fisette said having police officers equipped with the drug is important because they are usually the first emergency responders to arrive at the scene.
