Cape Cod Scallop Fest Seeks Volunteers for September Event

Scallop FestEAST FALMOUTH – The 47th Cape Cod Scallop Fest needs around 500 volunteers for the September event.

This year’s fest will again take place at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds on Nathan Ellis Highway in East Falmouth.

According to Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marie Oliva, the proceedings will feature a number of activities for children, a corn hole tournament, craft beers, live entertainment and plenty of scallops.

Volunteers are needed in a number of areas, including servers for scallop dinners, runners who will be responsible for bringing food from place to place, security and retail shop associates handling registration.

The volunteers will work in five-hour shifts and be compensated with a t-shirt, gift bag and discounted scallop or chicken dinner.

Oliva said the fest is looking for first-time volunteers to supplement the large number of them who return year after year.

“We completely changed it around to make it more of a village-type atmosphere,” she said.
