Cape Cod Workforce Board Celebrates ‘Age Forward Recognition Program’

HYANNIS – The MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board launched the Age Forward Employer Recognition Program earlier this summer. The program was created to attempt to begin identifying employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain older workers.

“Each small business is unique,” Workforce Board Executive Director David Augustinho said.

“But we hope that by shining a spotlight on what works for these Age Forward employers we will encourage others to make changes in how they relate to those job seekers over 55.”

Nominations for the program were solicited by customers, employees and business owners. After nominees filled out questionnaires detailing their practices in arenas important to older workers, the results were tallies to find the winners.

The winners of this year’s competition will be announced at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis during an awards breakfast on September 25.

The Cape and Islands Workforce Board says, “This year’s winners represent the resiliency of our region’s business community and illustrate its ability to adapt to emerging trends.”

The event is free, but pre-registration is required.
