WEST BARNSTABLE – The Cape Cod YMCA held an event on Friday announcing their new Diabetes Resource Center.

The WENY Diabetes Resource Center will be located at the YMCA’s West Barnstable location and will include workshop areas, a display of diabetes information, a consult and conference area and a resource center.

“This resource center will serve as an absolute focal point for our YMCA in helping families and the community to combat this chronic disease,” said YMCA Cape Cod President and CEO Stacie Peugh.

The project is currently out to bid to contractors but construction is expected to begin in November and be completed by January.

The lobby of the Cape Cod YMCA will not be closed but there will be temporary walls that will erected will construction is ongoing.

The center is in honor of trustee Robert Ludwig who was a former board member of YMCA Cape Cod and started a Diabetes Education Center at the Naples YMCA.

“This is such an exciting time in the history of YMCA Cape Cod, this Diabetes Resource Center is going to make us even more crucial and central and serve our core mission in the Town of Barnstable,” said YMCA Cape Cod Secretary and Past Board Chair Craig Rockwood.
