Cape Codder Resort to Add Water Park

capecodderHYANNIS – A new water attraction is coming to Hyannis.

The Cape Codder Resort and Spa on Route 132 will be building an indoor water park.

Deb Catania, the vice president of the Catania Hospitality group which owns the resort, said they hope to have the park opened for next summer.

Catania said the resort will feature “lazy” and “adventure” rivers along with multiple water slides.

The design of the addition will allow for the attraction to be used all year.

“It’s going to be indoors with a retractable roof so we can open it up in good weather and close it in bad weather,” Catania said. “The Cape is a year round destination and we have to make people want to come down here.”

They are targeting families from around the northeastern part of the country.

“Our goal is to obviously keep our occupancy up year round,” she said. “We do great in July and August but then what happens is we have long winters and we still have to keep our occupancy going. That’s why we decided to do this.”

Catania said the whole board voted in favor of adding the water park, which will be located behind the courtyard.

There will also be an addition of a playground for children.
