Cape Codder runs for Lieutenant Governor

Yarmouth selectman Tracy Post of South Yarmouth is joining the gubernatorial ticket of Jeff McCormick, a Boston businessman running as an Independent. As a candidate for lieutenant governor, Post said she will crisscross the state during the campaign to try to meet as many voters as possible to hear their concerns.  tracy post

Post said she agrees with McCormick on a number of issues, including his focus on the state staying out of the way of business. “He is trying to partner with business instead of having state government stand in the way,” she said.

Post, 41, grew up on Cape Cod and is a 1990 graduate of Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich. After high school, she took classes at Cape Cod Community College but left school to marry her husband who was in the army.

The first in-person meeting for Post and McCormick was during the St. Patrick’s Parade in Yarmouth in March, but they had spoken on the phone several times before that, she said, adding that they were introduced by mutual friends.

Post said she is “honored to have the opportunity” to help the people of Massachusetts.

Post works as the office manager of Cape Cod Aggregates and she and her husband have a 15-year-old son who attends Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in Harwich.

Post has served on the Yarmouth Board of Selectmen since 2010. Prior to that, she served for about five years on the Yarmouth Planning Board, at one point as chairman. She has also served on the Yarmouth Growth Policy Advisory Council and the Community and Economic Development Committee.
