Cape Codder Runs Marine Corps Marathon for Vets Group

WASHINGTON – A former Barnstable High School student-athlete represented a Cape Cod veterans organization last month in Washington when she finished the Marine Corps Marathon.

Margaret Cobb, a Centerville resident, was sponsored by the Field of Honor committee, the group that organizes the annual Field of Honor flag display in Dennis at Johnny Kelley Park. The Marine Corps Marathon is one of the largest races in the world, with over 30,000 participants this year.

Organizers are getting ready for this year’s flag display, which is planned for November 10-12. Hundreds of flags will be planted to represent local veterans and first responders.

Cobb was a basketball and track standout at Barnstable High School. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2012 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration at Babson College.

Cobb ran in donated shoes from Hanlon’s Shoes in Hyannis.
