HARWICH – On the heels of the tragic Orlando nightclub shooting in June, a conference to be held in Harwich on Friday, aims to help in the healing, while tackling important issues affecting the LGBT community, and society as a whole.

The conference entitled, “Mourning Orlando, United in Love, Working for Change,” will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church from 4-8:30 p.m.

Well-known theologian, and catholic activist Dr. Mary Hunt will be the keynote speaker, and those in attendance will also have an opportunity to discuss healing and strengthening relationships, ending violence and discrimination, and expanding LGBT welcome in local communities.

“(We wanted to) create a gathering where people could come together and talk about it, spend a little time in worship, and hear a really fine speaker and talk about where we go from here,” Event Organizer Kathleen Schatzberg said.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church is located at 310, Rte. 137 in Harwich.
