Cape Conservatory to Present Musical Menagerie Concert

WEST BARNSTABLE – The Cape Conservatory will present A Musical Menagerie concert at two locations on Cape Cod next weekend.

The family-friendly concert is a collaboration with the Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra and will be held Saturday, May 18 at 4 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Chatham and Sunday, May 19 at 3 p.m. at Falmouth Academy.

Perfect for school aged children and their parents, the concert features an animal themed repertoire, including the fairy tale “Peter and the Wolf.”

The concert will also feature “The Birds.” Composer Ottorino Respighi translated birdsong into a musical notation to convey bird behavior, such as fluttering wings, dove cooing, hens pecking, bird calls and more.

Conservatory Executive Director Stephanie Weaver, who is also a concert pianist, will also perform Mozart’s variations on “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

After the concert, children will be invited to try instruments in a “musical petting zoo” led by orchestra musicians.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased online at Cape Conservatory dot org or by calling the conservatory.
