Cape Conservatory’s Music Memory Concert to Reach more Students

HYANNIS – The Cape Symphony & Conservatory’s Music Memory program year end concert will reach even more students across the Cape than usual.

The Cape Symphony concert will be livestreamed to at least 3 schools on the Cape in addition to the 16 schools that have students attending the performance at Cape Cod Church in East Falmouth on June 1.

The popular “name that tune” style concert has teams of students guess the title and composer of 16 pieces of classical music they have been studying throughout the year.

“This event is such a fantastic and inspiring experience for students. We want to be able to broadcast it as widely as possible,” said Stephanie Weaver, the managing director of the Cape Conservatory. “New online streaming technology platforms now make this much easier to do.”

Twenty-one schools are participating in the program.

“We have so many students working with Music Memory this year that we can’t realistically take them all to the event,” said John Williams, the instrumental music teacher at Oak Ridge School in Sandwich. “So the live streaming will give all of our kids a chance to experience the fun and excitement.”

The Oak Ridge School has 100 students that are involved in the program.

Other schools that will be participating via livestream are the Eddy Elementary School in Brewster and Harwich Elementary, which will have its whole school watching.

The concert was moved to the Cape Cod Church this year from Barnstable High School.

Along with the new venue and streaming capabilities the concert will also feature three additional feature pieces which will be played from start to finish.

The concert will feature musicians from the Cape Symphony and the Cape Conservatory CJazz students.
