Cape Flyer Service Now Permanent

HYANNIS – The Cape Flyer train service from Boston to Hyannis will not only run this summer but many summers to come.

At a press conference held at the Hyannis Transportation Center today, Massachusetts Department of Transportation Secretary Richard Davey said the service last summer was “extraordinarily successful” and that the decision to make the service permanent was an easy one.

The service will begin this year on May 23, for Memorial Day.

One change in the service this year from last year is a stop in Wareham before the train reaches Cape Cod.

Davey says that the new service to Wareham on the Cape Flyer probably will not be ready in time for Memorial Day weekend due to necessary station improvements. They are targeting a July 4th start date for that service.
