Cape Housing Institute Educates Town Officials

HYANNIS – Laura Shufelt of Massachusetts Housing Partnership says getting leaders and town officials on board is a great first step towards developing affordable housing.

The Housing Assistance Corporation and Community Development Partnership have  helped municipal officials understand more about the housing needed on Cape Cod.  This was accomplished with the inaugural Cape Housing Institute which ran for six weeks this past fall.

Approximately 140 appointed and elected officials on the Cape learned about a broad range of topics including laws, planning and design, from eleven presenters.

The next step is Advocacy Training which will be open to all residents and begin early next year.
