Cape Light Compact Offers Free Program to Renewable Energy Customers

energy efficient lightbulbBARNSTABLE – Homes and businesses with solar photovoltaic or small residential wind systems on the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard are eligible to participate in a program that can help them save more on their electric bills.

Cape Light Compact officials say their program allows participants to use their smartphone to monitor the amount of power being generated by their renewable energy in real time.

“The idea is that making consumers more aware of how they use energy gives them the knowledge they need to make small adjustments in their behavior that can help them conserve energy and save money,” said Compact Administrator Maggie Downey.

Qualified participants will receive free software, hardware and professional installation.

The program uses an award-winning application compatible with iOS or Android smartphones and internet access.

Participants are allowed to keep the equipment as long as they like.
