BARNSTABLE – Executives and staff members from over 100 non-profit organizations from the Cape and Islands and South Shore gathered at Cape Cod Community College on Tuesday for the inaugural Non-Profit Leadership Summit.

The three-hour summit was intended to infuse the organizations with knowledge and skills that are critical to their success.

Tammi Jacobsen, Director of the Center for Corporate and Professional Education at Cape Cod Community College said that this event will be held again next year and could turn into a bi-annual event with more organizations participating.

“We want non-profits to know that there is workforce training out there for them and it is very affordable and very accessible through the college,” said Jacobsen.

The idea for the event came from a Fall 2015 survey from the Cape and Islands Partnership for Nonprofit Advancement, which noted that the non-profits had a lack of funding for training their staffs.

“It’s very impactful, we’re very pleased to have the turnout we had,” said Jacobsen. “We have a lot of resources for non-profit leaders here on the Cape and we have some funding options available as well.”
