Cape Real Estate Market Sees Strong Finish to 2015

house for saleBARNSTABLE – 2015 finished on a strong note for the Barnstable County real estate market.

According to new statistics released by the Registry of Deeds, the volume of sales was up 8.5 percent from December 2014, with the total value of sales increasing by nearly 8 percent.

The strong month means 2015 was the third straight year of modest increases in activity for the market.

“We’re coming back from a crevice, basically, six or seven years ago” said Barnstable County Register of Deeds Jack Meade. “It’s been a slow, steady build. Nothing that’s going to knock your socks off.”

Sales volume increased by 4.5 percent in 2015, with the total value of sales edging up 1.7 percent. The individual sales value saw a 1.5 percent increase.

“The last two months, November and December, were strong for us. It got us ahead of last year. For the first ten months of the year we were matching or treading water with last years numbers,” Meade said.

The individual median sales value on Cape Cod is $344,000, down $3,000 from December 2014.
