YARMOUTHPORT – Scouts from across the Cape and Islands celebrated a centennial anniversary Sunday at Camp Greenough in Yarmouthport.
Members from the Scout’s National Honor Society, called the Order of the Arrow, were in attendance to present the history and traditions of scout camps.
Visitors took part in shooting sports, silk screening, geocaching and other outdoor activities.
Scout Executive Michael Riley said he hopes the anniversary will be remembered.
“I’m hoping the kids will understand just how significant this is,” Riley said. “Most 10-, 12-, 14-year-olds I don’t think relate all that well to what happened 100 years ago but maybe in a few year’s they’ll say ‘oh, that was pretty cool that we were a part of that.’”
The Order of the Arrow is also celebrating their 100th anniversary this year.
