Cape Symphony Going Broadway with Next CapePOPS! Concert

HYANNIS – The Cape Symphony stage will be transformed into a Broadway theater next month with the help of three high-energy performers.

Guest conductor Peter Mansfield will present Broadway Rocks! On February 17 and 18.

From “The Lion King” and “Frozen” to “Mamma Mia” and “Jersey Boys,” the show will feature some of the most famous songs from the recent resurgence of musical theater.

The CapePOPS! concert would not be complete without Broadway stars and the symphony has invited LaKisha Jones, Anne Runolfsson and Rob Evan to perform.

Jones played two roles in the Oprah Winfrey-produced, Tony Award-winning musical, “The Color Purple.”

Runolfsson recently completed a two-year run in “Phantom of the Opera.”

Evan has performed in seven leading roles including the original Broadway cast of “Jekyll & Hyde.”

The symphony will also perform three numbers from new Broadway shows premiering this year, including “Proud Mary” from “Tina,” a bio-musical about Tina Turner; and “Come Sail Away” and “Stairway to Heaven” from “ROCKTOPIA.”
