HYANNIS – The Cape Symphony’s May concert will pay tribute to the greatest love stories set to music.
From Rachmaninoff and Ravel to Tchaikovsky, “Legendary Love Stories” will reconnect audiences with timeless tales of love like “Romeo and Juliet,” the ancient Greek novel “Daphnis and Chloe,” and more modern stories such as the 1980 Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve film, “Somewhere In Time.”
The show also features the debut of Russian virtuoso Natasha Paremski, an acclaimed pianist who has performed with some of the greatest orchestras in the world.
The performance will include Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet,” which reflects scenes from the famous story, including the sword fight between the families and the balcony scene between the two lovers.
The Chatham Chorale will also participate during “Daphnis and Chloe Suite No. 2” by composer Maurice Ravel.
The public is welcome to attend a free rehearsal on May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center as part of the statewide ArtWeek festival.
Ticketed performances are May 4 at 7:30 p.m. and May 5 at 3 p.m.
