COURTESY OF THE CAPE SYMPHONY: Swearingen & Kelli will perform with the Cape Symphony for the “Greatest Songs of the 70s” concert in October.

HYANNIS – The Cape Symphony will bring residents and visitors back in time to the era of colored glass, bell bottoms and roller rinks next month.

The decade of the 1970s is known for many iconic fads and fashion trends, but was also defined by its music.

The Cape Symphony’s first pops concert of the new season, “Greatest Songs of the 70s,” will be held at 3 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 9 at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center.

The guest artists for the show are Swearingen & Kelli.

The duo met in Florida in 2009 and released their debut album in 2013. They have a new album scheduled for release early next year.

Artistic Director and Conductor Jung-Ho Pak and Swearingen & Kelli have put together an authentic program of 70s favorites from Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot and Fleetwood Mac.

Musical selections will also range from The Eagles and Neil Diamond to James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. The concert will feature nearly 20 songs like “American Pie,” “Take it Easy,” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”
