Cape Symphony Conductor and Artistic Director Jung-Ho Pak

HYANNIS – The Cape Symphony will feature the debut of a legendary songwriter when it kicks off 2018 with its annual New Year’s Day Party.

Jimmy Webb is famous for writing many hits including “Up, Up and Away” and “MacArthur Park.”

Webb is the only artist to have won a Grammy Award for music, lyrics, and orchestration, along with being the youngest person to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The talented composer and lyricist has collaborated and rubbed elbows with legendary performers, including Louis Armstrong, Paul McCartney and Elvis.

One of Webb’s closest friendships and musical partnerships was with Glen Campbell.

Webb wrote may of Campbell’s hits, including “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman” and “Galveston,” all of which will be performed at the New Year’s Day Party.

The Cape Symphony will also honor the memory of the late Campbell with a special singing appearance by his daughter Ashley Campbell.

She will join Webb to sing some of the songs that made her father a superstar.

The performance is January 1 at 3 p.m. at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center in Hyannis. To purchase tickets visit capesymphony.org.
