Cape Tech Readies For State Inspection

Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich

HARWICH – The state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is sending a team to Cape Cod Regional Technical High School between March 19th and the 21st.  The purpose is to document steps that the school district has taken to improve learning. Those wishing to see the findings and recommendations can go to www.doe.mass.edu shortly after the visit.

Last fall residents overwhelmingly voted for a new school building with a total price tag of $128 million.  The Massachusetts School Building Authority will cover more than 30 percent, leaving the remaining $86 million to be spread across the district towns by enrollment percentage.

The towns which make up the school district include Barnstable, Mashpee, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, Orleans, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown.

Several public forums had been held across the district urging residents to vote for the new facility.

The current building was constructed over 40 years ago.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for the fall of 2019, with completion expected in the summer of 2021.
