The Cape Flyer, a train which runs from South Station in Boston to Hyannis, will offer free fare for veterans and their chosen passenger Sunday.

The train begins its Sunday run at 8 a.m. in Boston and is slated to arrive in Hyannis around 10:30. Veterans will be provided a shuttle to a celebration of their service at the Kmart parking lot.

The ceremony will feature a rotating set of soldiers standing on guard for 24 hours.

There will also be a barbecue, kids’ tent, car show from 4 to 7 p.m., an honor ceremony for Vietnam veterans at 2 p.m., and a ceremony marking the start of Memorial Day at midnight.

An Iraq/Afghanistan Memorial Wall will also be on display, along with military vehicles.

Participants will be given the opportunity to record messages to send to troops overseas.

Over 200 veterans and a guest of their choice are expected to arrive.
