CapeFLYER Train to Provide Free Service for Veterans Sunday

HYANNIS –  The Cape Cod Regional Transportation Authority and the MBTA have partnered to bring a special train from Boston to Hyannis for the Troops in the Spotlight event Sunday.

The CapeFLYER train will depart from South Station in Boston at 8am and arrive in Hyannis at the Transportation Center at 10:20am.

“We thought that if we could work with some veteran’s agencies and veteran’s organizations we could really get people on to our train down here to enjoy and show their appreciation for the great things that our veterans have done and do for us,” said Tom Cahir, CCRTA Director.

Veterans with one guest are welcomed to travel free of cost. Active duty military in uniform and one guest will also travel free. Children under the age of 12 also ride free.

“We have aggressively recruited veterans from all over the Commonwealth, and now we have over 400 people that have committed to come on this train,” said Cahir.

The return train will depart from Hyannis Transportation Center on the 27th at 6:30pm, arriving in Boston at 8:45pm.

Both the trains and buses are fully handicap accessible.
