HYANNIS – CapeSpace is being recognized for its effort to reduce their environmental footprint. The organization is has received level 1 certification from the cape and islands Green Program.
“We’re excited to be recognized for the efforts we’re making to operate more sustainabley, the best part of this is our members are seeing the work we’re doing and can incorporate some of these environmentally friendly practices into their own lives” said CapeSpace president Robbin Orbison.
Started in the fall of 2008 The Cape and Islands Green program establishes specific criteria that local companies can adopt to be certified as a green business. There are three levels to the program- Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3
“Each level has a check list of items that a business needs to check off in order to be verified, what it basically means is that you’re abiding by certain green practices, which allow you to display the fact that you have this certification” said Orbison.
Since the beginning of this year Orbison and her team have been working with the Community Development Program to meet level 1 verification.
Cape and Islands Green was organized by a collective of environmentally conscious business owners with support from The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce and Community Development Partnership.
“At CapeSpace we believe in being environmentally responsible, the cape is our home and we care about it, and we wanted the business to be reflective of how we feel about the cape” said Orbison.
