BARNSTABLE – The first round of the Cape Cod Baseball League 2017 playoffs begins this weekend with opening games in the East and West Divisions.
In the East, the Brewster Whitecaps take on the Y-D Red Sox while the Chatham Anglers face the Orleans Firebirds.
In the West, its the Bourne Braves vs. the Cotuit Kettleers and the Wareham Gatemen taking on the Falmouth Commodores.
It all ends with the Championship next week and one of the teams hoisting the Arnold Mycock trophy.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Cape Cod Baseball League Commissioner Paul Galop, who admitted that the eight-week season goes by quick.
“The season goes by so fast it’s almost unbelievable,” said Galop. “It feels like we were just welcoming the kids to Cape Cod, but it is what it is, so here we go, it’s time to play some serious baseball.”
Plans are already underway for next season as officials are making up next year’s schedule and planning for the All-Star game in Harwich.
“It really never ends, we try to do everything we can proactively so that when this season ends, we’re already well underway for preparing for next year,” said Galop.
