CCHC Pledging Money for Ellen Jones Dental Relocation

HARWICH–Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC) has announced that they will match all donations up to $100,000 for the relocation of Harbor Health’s Ellen Jones Community Dental Center to Dennis’ Patriot Square. The announcement on Friday was at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, the site of the current center.

With the new high school building project underway, President and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare Mike Lauf said creating a new location for the center was pivotal for local residents.

“Due to the school changing, they needed new space, and we at Cape Cod Healthcare wanted to make sure that these vital services–these safety net dental services for our community–remain in place,” Lauf explained.

The move will be made next spring. The non-profit dental center has over 3,300 patients as well as a long wait list, and in turn there are expansion plans for the new Dennis location in order to meet growing needs. The move to Patriot Square aims to make the center more accessible to patients, says President of CEO of Harbor Health Chuck Jones.

“It’s right off the exit off the highway. It’ll be a storefront, there’s plenty of parking and public transportation,” Jones remarked.

“So, I think all those factors are going to make it easier for us to provide services to people, and easier for them to get to the location.”

CCHC visited the center during a tour across Cape Cod. The organization went to Provincetown earlier in the day to speak about improved access to affiliate healthcare locations for residents of the Outer Cape, thanks to the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority and Peter Pan Bus Lines. Visits were also made to Wellfleet to discuss Outer Cape Healthcare, as well as Chatham in regards to the Fish for Families Program and the improved access to nutritious food.
