National Seashore to Host Kenneth Hawkey’s Exhibit

EASTHAM -Artist Kenneth Hawkey’s paintings will be featured at Cape Cod National Seashore’s Salt Pond Visitor Center this month.

The exhibit is part of the seashore’s ongoing series -Perspectives: Seeing Cape Cod National Seashore Through Art.

Thirty Years in the National Seashore celebrates Hawkey’s 30th anniversary painting scenes in Cape Cod National Seashore.

Hawkey lives in Truro, where the national seashore encompasses nearly 70% of the town.

Dunes, waterways, woodlands, beaches, wildlife habitats, and the private residences found within the national seashore are the foundations of Hawkey’s exhibit.

The exhibit, which consists primarily of new works, will include one painting from 1989 to show how the national seashore inspired Hawkey’s development as an artist.

Hawkey is active in the arts across Cape Cod. He is represented by Larkin Gallery in Provincetown and Post Office Gallery in North Truro.

He has been featured in Cape Cod Magazine and has had several reviews of his exhibits in the Provincetown Banner. This is his first exhibition in Eastham.

A public reception with the artist will be held at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham on Sunday from 2-4 pm.
