CCYP Accepting Giving Circle Grant Applications

BARNSTABLE – A nonprofit that works to connect, engage and advance the next generation of Cape Cod’s workforce and leaders is looking to fund creative projects to address the needs of young professionals.

Cape Cod Young Professionals’ Giving Circle Grant Program will award up to $10,000 this fall to local nonprofit organizations that are proposing solutions and resources in the areas of housing availability, civic engagement, child care and business and economic development.

“We’ve had some great success stories of how these grant funds have been used to directly benefit our young professionals on the Cape,” said Lauren Barker, the CCYP CEO. “And for CCYP it’s really a win because it expands our reach and our ability to have an impact by partnering up with other nonprofits that are doing great work.”

Launched in 2015, the Giving Circle grant program, which is a partnership with the Cape Cod Foundation, has awarded a total of $30,000.

Through the program, Giving Circle donors participate in all aspects of the grant-making process, including the selection of the project priority areas.

“We have about 100 donors who give monthly or annually to that program and a portion of their donations go directly to the giving circle grant,” Barker said.

The grant awards range from $500 to $2,500 with funding announcements to be made in September. The deadline for applications is August 31.

The grants are geared towards non-profit projects and programs and can only be awarded to 501(c)3 organizations.

“However, non-profits that offer support for businesses, business development or small business establishment of any kind are eligible,” Barker said.

The four project priority areas were selected by Giving Circle donors after reviewing results of the organization’s community needs survey conducted earlier this year.
