BARNSTABLE – CCYP, also known as the Cape Cod Young Professionals, has announced the Mentor Monday series as part of the Career Connect Mentor Exchange.

Cape & Islands Workforce Investment Board is the Presenting Sponsor for the Mentor Mondays.

The topic of this month’s career development event is “Work Life Balance:  How to manage it all and have fun trying. We may not be aware of it, but we all share an inner drive to be more – and to be more of our authentic selves.  How do we do that?  How can we integrate our values and yearnings with our personal and professional lives?”

The speakers are Courtney Poignand, founder and principal consultant at the Center for Self Care and Brad Glass, Leadership Coach for The Road Not Taken.

This month’s Mentor Monday is scheduled for December 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Alberto’s Restaurant in Hyannis, and Cape Cod Healthcare is the Evening Sponsor for this event.

CCYP’s Career Connect Mentor Exchange addresses concerns of young professionals seeking the advice and guidance from experienced leaders in the Cape Cod business community.  Given that the holiday season is upon us, the topic should appeal to many.

“Mentor Monday is exciting new program that is, in essence, speed mentoring,” said Anne Van Vleck, executive director, CCYP. “There’s a different topic every month and each event features dinner and a presentation, following by small group round table discussions led by mentors. Mentor Monday is a pillar of the Mentor Exchange to help young professionals start or advance their careers or businesses.”  It is open to all, whether or not they are enrolled in the full mentoring program.

Through mentoring, young professionals receive help to clarify goals, add skills, build networks, find resources, and add value to organizations and the community.

The schedule and topics for Mentor Monday includes:

January 12, 2015 — Community involvement; helping others and advancing your career

February 23, 2015 — Entrepreneur thinking: start and run a business or think like an owner

March 16, 2015 — The brand of you: Promoting yourself effectively

April 13, 2015 — Managing others: what’s your best leadership style?

May 18, 2015 — Effective network building; Connecting comfortably online and in person

Mentor Mondays require no application and are open to the public.  Each event is stand alone, with a small fee of $10 for dinner and simply requires registration online at the CCYP website (there is no charge for those enrolled in the Mentor Exchange as a Mentor or Mentee).  CCYP’s Mentor Exchange has been created through the generous support of The Innovation Institute of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and in partnership with the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and Listening 2 Leaders.

CCYP was founded in November 2005 with the idea that Cape Cod could benefit from an organization of young people dedicated to the betterment of the region. Today CCYP is the only organization of its kind serving the region.
