Center for Coastal Studies Presents Collaboration Discussion

Provincetown – The Center for Coastal Studies is hosting a presentation on the future of fisheries next week by its Director of Marine Fisheries, Owen Nichols.

The title of Nichols’ talk is “Charting a Course to Mutual Trust and Understanding: Fishermen and Scientists Working Together for Sustainable Fisheries.”

In New England and around the world, fishermen and scientists are working together to keep fisheries sustainable while confronting environmental change and human impact.

These collaborations build relationships between the fishing and scientific com unities as well as provide valuable information for management of sustainable fisheries.

As part of the presentation Owens will discuss case studies from the Cape which show how the collaborations form and how the partners can work together to build mutual trust and understanding while overcoming the challenge of differing perspectives.  

The event will take place Wednesday, October 25th at 7 pm. 

The free presentation is part of the Center for Coastal Studies’ Winter Lecture Series,which is supported by Napi’s Restaurant in Provincetown, Attendees are encouraged to get to the Center at 5pm to enjoy a dinner provided by the restaurant.
