Center for Coastal Studies to Present Several March Lectures

PROVINCETOWN – The Center for Coastal Studies is offering several events and programs as spring arrives on Cape Cod.

The free presentation “Leatherback Sea Turtles in Cape Cod Bay: Lessons in Disentanglement” is Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at Napi’s Restaurant in Provincetown.

The Center’s Marine Animal Entanglement Response Team Rescue Assistant Bob Lynch will discuss what the team has learned about this species of turtle through the process of disentanglement.

The center will also co-sponsor several events across the Cape in March.

Center Adjunct Scientist and Cartographer Steve Mague will present “Digging into the Past: Retracing a 19th Century Survey along the Outer Cape Shore” on March 21 at 1 p.m. at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster.

Center Marine Ecologist Agnes Mittermayr will discuss the biodiversity of local invertebrates as part of the Women in Science Series at the Wellfleet Public Library March 31 at 3 p.m.

The center will also begin selling tickets this month for the center’s largest fundraiser of the year, Homeport by the Bay, which is in May.
