Centerville Gears Up for 113th Old Home Week

CENTERVILLE –  A week-long celebration in Centerville kicks off on Sunday.

The 113th anniversary of Centerville Old Home Week features several family friendly events and concerts to celebrate the past, present and future of the village.

Old Home Week begins Sunday evening with an a cappella concert from Cape Harmony at the Tabernacle, Craigville Concert Center on Craigville Beach Road at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to everyone.

The Centerville Civic Association Summer Meeting is Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and includes strawberry shortcake and ice cream from Four Seas.

The Old Home Week 5K Road Race and Walk is Thursday evening at Covell Beach. The events are $23 for adults 19 or older and $5 for children ages 6 to 18. Races kick off at 5:40 p.m. and are followed by an awards presentation, hot dogs and watermelon.

Registration forms are available at the Centerville Public Library, Chip’s House and the 1856 Country Store and must be returned by August 7. Online registration at www.semcsports.com runs through 11:45 p.m. August 8.

Saturday events include the annual yard sale at the Centerville Historical Museum from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Fire Department Foam Demonstration at 6:30 p.m.

The Moonlighters will perform a concert at 7 p.m. at Craigville Beach, which will be followed by the Old Home Week Bonfire.

The week of events wraps up Sunday with the ice cream social at the Centerville Public Library at 5 p.m. and a performance by award-winning composer David Polansky from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
