Centerville Man Arrested on Federal Weapons Charge Faces Fentanyl Trafficking

YARMOUTH – A Centerville man who was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for a weapons violation now faces a felony fentanyl trafficking charge.

Yarmouth police spotted 37-year-old David Silva, who is well known to Cape Cod law enforcement agencies, driving a car with North Carolina registration on Route 28 on Friday.

Police stopped Silva near the Barnstable town line and arrested him for the outstanding warrant.

Police said a Monday search of a West Yarmouth motel room where Silva was believed to be staying uncovered 91 grams of Fentanyl, which is an opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and often mixed with heroin. Silva is being held without bail in a federal facility.
