WEST BARNSTABLE – A 52-year-old Centerville man died after his pickup truck crashed into a tree in West Barnstable yesterday.
Daniel Hawkins, who was driving the Ford 150 truck, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital but died soon after.
The crash occurred on the Service Road between Chase Road and Route 149.
Barnstable Police Sergeant Sean Sweeney said the crash occurred near the shooting range. He said there were no known witnesses to the accident and no known reason for the truck to have gone off the road.
West Barnstable Fire Chief Dave Paananen said, rescue crews responded to 911 calls about the crash at about 11:30 am. Crews performed CPR at the scene but Hawkins was not breathing and was unresponsive when they arrived, he said.
Hawkins was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
