BOURNE, Mass. (AP) — The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will honor veterans with the annual Veterans Day ceremony this afternoon.

The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. near the flagpole, rain or shine.

The guest speaker is Col. Virginia Doonan, commander of the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base.

Operation Flags for Vets was held Saturday as about 66,000 flags were placed on graves at the cemetery.

The event was established in 2012 in memory of a Medal of Honor recipient, Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti of Raynham. Monti was killed in Afghanistan in 2006.
