HYANNIS – Founded in 1991, CHAMP Homes has been providing a safe and nurturing environment for formally homeless individuals.

The organization will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a gala event at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Harwich on Thursday, October 27 from 6-9:30 p.m.

The event entitled “Home is Where the Heart Is,” will feature a silent auction and buffet dinner, and it’s also an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the faith-based organization that provides more than just housing for those in need.

“It’s our hope that as each person comes through our doors that we are able to see their strengths and help them work with those as they restart their lives and overcome the difficulties,” Executive Director Beth Wade said.

Many of its residents are at-risk individuals who are challenged by mental, physical and emotional disabilities or are recovering from addiction, and CHAMP Homes acts as a partner with organizations to provide residents with a full range of services, a principle which Wade says the faith-based organization was founded on, and will continue.

“I continue to see our role as being a collaborative agency where we’re getting people into a position so they would be eligible for other services and other forms of housing,” Waid said.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the CHAMP Homes website.
